Following the announcement f the De Boer Commission’s Sector Investment Plan HBO 2011-2016, the NHL University of Applied Sciences and the VHL University of Applied Sciences set about establishing the Centre of Expertise Water Technology (CEW).
Collaboration was sought with Wetsus, the centre of excellence for sustainable water technology, as a scientific partner, and with the business community. Industry is represented in the CEW by organisations such as Vitens, WLN, Landustrie, and Paques on the one hand, and by numerous young, innovative SMEs represented by the former Well Foundation (Water Energy and Life Sciences Leeuwarden) on the other.
By focusing on applied research and product development in the field of water technology, the CEW makes an important contribution both to educational development and to innovations in the business community.
