Are you an HBO student with a keen interest in sustainability and water technology? Join our research team at CEW to work on TORWASH®, an innovative sludge processing technology developed by TNO. TORWASH® reduces sewage sludge by up to 85%. Cutting incineration costs while producing material suitable as (bio)fuel.

Your role will focus on treating and recovering resources from TORWASH® rejection water, which
contains high levels of organic matter, nitrogen, and phosphorus. You’ll dive into processes like anaerobic digestion, struvite precipitation, and anammox to explore solutions for sustainable recirculation within wastewater treatment plants.

Your profile

• You study Chemical Technology, (Bio)process Technology, Environmental Engineering
• You have affinity with process technology
• You are familiar with biological wastewater treatment
• You have good communication skills
• You work in a structured way
• You work independently and are ready to ‘own’ the test setup
• You can plan your work well
• You are familiar with basic laboratory techniques

Your responsibilities

• Daily operation of the pilot setup (24 L/d)
• consisting of an anaerobic digester, struvite
• precipitation and an anammox reactor
• Troubleshooting of the test setup
• Sampling, analyses, measurements
• Managing data (spreadsheets, photos, SharePoint)
