My name is Antonella, I’m from Ecuador, I study in Portugal but I’m currently living in Leeuwarden. In my free time I like to watch action or animated movies. I also enjoy listening to all kind of music.
In my university there are all kinds of biology and technologies to study, but I prefer Bio Technology because I’m interested in genetics. I was originally thinking about studying law, but I feel like I can be more impactful with biology. When my university did an exchange with NHL Stenden, a friend of mine recommended CEW when I was busy searching for an internship.
The project that I’m working on is called Torwash. This project revolves around extracting sludge from wastewater and sewage to purify it. Thanks to this process the water can be recycled for industry. At first I had a lot of tasks like analyzing data but now that there are other interns to help, I can focus on supervising the bioreactor.
Before this internship I didn’t have the chance to put my skills to practice in the lab, but here at the CEW I have learned how a lab works in reality. Besides that I learned how to use a drill while setting up the bioreactor in the lab. I would like to learn from more experienced people in the lab.
As soon as I’m done with this internship I will graduate and start following a master in Energy & Environmental Management in Twente.
I’m very grateful for the help CEW offered when I wanted to do an international internship here. There are a lot of nice people at CEW who can help you and the variety of projects is great! I would definitely recommend CEW, they have a good environment for interns to gain experience in the field.
