My name is Jasmin Mann, I’m from Finland but I’m currently living in Leeuwarden. In my free time I like to go to the gym to work out. Beside that I like to bake and cook. I also enjoy going out with my friends.
I’m really interested in in engineering and I care about the environment so it seemed right to choose the study Environmental Engineering. Via an exchange with Van Hall Larenstein and my university I got the chance to get a tour from Wetsus. Later, a supervisor helped me with getting an internship here at CEW.
I’m currently doing research for a project called “monitoring van erfemissie in de praktijk”. This project is about researching cattle farms and their farmyard emmisions. “Erfemissie” means when water has been in contact with cattle food or dirt.
The second project I’m doing research for is the “Decentrale waterproductie voor veedrinking”. For this project I’m doing research about farmers and if they would be willing to change their ways of current water usage. And if they are open to use more sustainable water, like rainwater, surfacewater or sourcewater.
So far I have learned more about the current situation with farmers and their water usage. I now know more about how farms work and ways they could improve. I would like to know more about general water usage in agriculture.
As of right now my options are open, I might do a masters in something water related. Or I could explore the work field somewhere.
I definitely would recommend this internship. When I started off, I had high expectations, and so far they have been met. I can say there are fun people to work with. You also have to take a lot of initiative with things yourself, which I’m glad about.
